Often times the question of whether or not someone should lift weights frequently comes up. People often wonder if there would be any benefit to them especially if they don’t want big bulky muscles. The reality is that weightlifting at any capacity can have many positive impacts on ones health. We also can experience those benefits without gaining big muscles (if that’s not what you desire!). People should aim to train all of their major muscle groups and let me tell you why. Lifting weights can reduce the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, improve joint stability and ease osteoarthritis pain, lower body fat, and improve muscle mass and strength (which can improve quality of life and provide you extra protection in the case of injuries).
